The fine print

Terms of Use

Plain, proportionate terms for a free, non-commercial fan archive. Using the site means you accept the points below.

In one lineGreatest Bits is a free, non-commercial archive that indexes and comments on stand-up and links you to the original work. It hosts nothing itself, claims no ownership of the comedy, and removes anything a rights holder asks it to remove.
1

Acceptance and what this is

Greatest Bits ("the site") is a free, non-commercial, fan-made archive and editorial project about stand-up comedy, operated by its owner (an individual; a formal entity may be established later). By accessing or using the site, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any comedian, network, studio, streaming service, label, or other party whose work it indexes. Names, titles, and trademarks are used only to identify and refer to that work.

2

The site is informational and opinionated

Greatest Bits is a catalogue plus criticism. Its rankings, tiers, and write-ups are statements of opinion offered for commentary and discussion, not statements of fact about any person. The catalogue is a work in progress and may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. We aim for accuracy and never knowingly fabricate a link, quote, date, or attribution, but we make no guarantee that everything is complete or correct.

3

Permission to use the site

You may browse, link to, and share the site for personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short excerpts of our original writing with attribution and a link back. You may not:

4

Intellectual property: the comedy is not ours

All comedy clips, audio recordings, photographs, posters, special and album titles, names, and the underlying performances belong to their respective owners. They appear on the site solely to identify each artist's work and direct you to it, as fair use for criticism, commentary, news reporting, and reference.

Nothing is hosted or stored on this site. Video and audio are embedded from, or linked to, their original platforms (such as YouTube and Spotify); images are loaded from their sources (such as Wikimedia Commons and TMDB) with credit. We claim no ownership of, and assert no rights in, any of this third-party material.

The original material we do create, the rankings, the editorial write-ups, the site design and text, remains ours and is offered to you under the limited permission in Section 3.

5

Third-party content, links, and embeds

The site relies on and points to content hosted by others. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its availability, accuracy, or the terms and privacy practices of the platforms that host it. When you play an embedded clip or follow a link, you do so under the terms of the platform that hosts it. The presence of a clip, link, or poster is identification and reference, not endorsement.

6

Corrections and takedowns

If something is wrong, mis-credited, or you are a rights holder who wants material removed, we will fix or remove it promptly, no questions asked. See the Copyright & Takedown page for how to send a request, or use the contact page.

7

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any clip or link will remain available.

8

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Greatest Bits will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the site or any third-party content reached through it. Because the site is free and non-commercial, to the extent any liability is found notwithstanding the above, it will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

9

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of Greatest Bits from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the site or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

10

Changes to the site and these Terms

The site is built up over time; features may be added, changed, or removed. We may update these Terms as the project evolves, especially before any accounts, user contributions, or community features launch, which will carry their own reviewed terms. Material changes are reflected in the effective date below, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

11

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before bringing any formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter informally; most issues with a free archive are solved with a quick email. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to proceed elsewhere.

12

Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Copyright & Takedown page, are the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding the site.
